INSTRUCTION: HOW TO HIT A HYBRID
|
The sole design and leading edge of a Hybrid makes it the perfect ‘go-to’ club when faced with longer shots from the fairway or light rough.
Despite this, I still see so many amateur golfers struggling to hit clean, accurate shots with their Hybrids. Perhaps this is because the increasingly large and more forgiving designs tend to more closely resemble an anorexic Fairway Wood than they do a well-fed long Iron; causing golfers to make swings based on their visual cues rather than the club’s strengths. Nevertheless, here are a few things to remember before addressing the ball:
While a Hybrid with the same loft as a Fairway Wood will never hit the same distance - due to the shorter shaft - it will get the ball up and out of rough lies easier and quicker, and add a degree of workability so it’s a worthwhile addition to any golfer’s arsenal.
