Fredericksburg’s Hidden Gem: Lady Bird Golf Course

There’s a lot to like about Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Course.

Lady Bird has been a Hill Country favorite for decades. Opened as a Par 9 course in 1969, it attracted locals and visitors alike looking for an accessible, comfortable level of play. In 1991, the course was transformed into an 18-hole course, offering golfers greater variety and challenge.

Today, thanks to nearly $2 million in renovations, it’s been transformed into one of the finest municipal courses in Texas. The course has been lengthened to a 6,686 yards, Par 71 design. Fairways have been carefully sculpted to reward good shot placement. Greens are firm and fast. The course now has 46 bunkers and water on 10 of the 18 holes. Add it all up and you have an exceptional, resort-like golf experience without those resort prices.

The course is open Monday at Noon and Tuesday through Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Non-resident green fees start at $55. Call 830-997-4010 for tee times and current green fees, or visit www.golffredericksburg.com.
